Open Questions

Chess-Pong is young. Some of the most interesting questions don't have answers yet.

Is there a first-player advantage?

The player who wins the very first set moves first on the board. But does that lead compound over time — or does the ping-pong randomness level the field?

🧮

Can the game be solved?

Classical chess can theoretically be solved — every position has an optimal move. But Chess-Pong introduces a probabilistic element. The "optimal" move depends on expected ping-pong outcomes.

What is the optimal chess opening?

Opening theory changes entirely. Positions safe in normal chess may be catastrophically vulnerable under the two-move threat. A new theory must be built from scratch.

📊

How much does chess skill matter?

If one player is far stronger at ping-pong, can get more double-moves. Does chess skill become irrelevant — or does good chess still win despite fewer moves?
